Hospital Sant Pau

Wikipedia: The former Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau (English: Hospital of the Holy Cross and Saint Paul) in the neighborhood of El GuinardóBarcelonaCataloniaSpain, is a complex built between 1901 and 1930, designed by the Catalan modernisme architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Together with Palau de la Música Catalana, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Friends Tom and Janet recommended visiting here, and with our AirBnB just two blocks away, this was a no-brainer.

How the entire complex looks.

The entire complex is connected via underground walkways beautifully tiled and skylighted.

Not all building are yet restored, and some are used as offices only, but the insides of those restored are just glorious. This ceiling is typical.

And most exteriors are Art Nouveau-style, just so much fun!

Allen's not much of a tour guy, sat this one out in the beautiful gardens.

Like the roof tiles also deliberately designed.

And the administration building is the big wow.

There I am!

This was a working hospital as recently as June 2009.

And it was designed to look right down the Esplanade at La Sagrada Familia. Man, these Barcelona planners really knew what they were doing!
