Barcelona Bus Tour

Because Barcelona's so huge, a bus tour was a must for me, plus the weather made it easy to choose the open-air adventure.

Roman ruins-turned-cathedral

Roy Lichtenstein, one of Holm's favorite artists, made this for the last Olympics go-round.

Miles and miles of excellent seaside promenade

Architect Frank Gehry's cool fish

Very cool Torre Glòries, opened 2005, 38-floor office building

FCB, Football Club Barcelona, stadium and shrine

Statue dedicated to Joan Miro at the site of what's to be a park and museum dedicated to her.

Was fascinated that this bullring has been lifted a full story and made into a huge shopping complex.

Olympic Stadium

Olympic cauldron

Communications tower adjacent to Olympic Park. Artist designed it to resemble "an athlete receiving a medal."

Catalonia Art Museum plaza, just stunning. Wish we'd had time to get here.

Near the cruise port, funicular tower and a sculpture supposedly resembling ocean waves.

Obligatory statue of Columbus, Barcelona's favorite son.

Entry to 1888 World's Fair site

Must have been 50 of these guys selling purses at this square. A minute after I took this, police had all of them pack it up and move along, and you could tell these guys were used to that - each of their display cloths was fashioned with ropes so one tug pulled all the edges together into giant Santa sacks, which the guys then slung over their shoulders.

Sagrada Familia from a distance

The Torre Glòries and companion new buildings are gateways to Barcelona's new East End.

Gaudi's Gueill Park. Didn't have time to get here either, darn it.

Out of order, I know, but more Torre Glòries,.

Yet more Gaudi
